PARTNERS

One international and eight Balkan organizations joined forces to form the BalkanDetox LIFE project, which aims to combat illegal wildlife poisoning across seven Balkan countries. The project would not be possible without the funders’ generous support, who finance the activities that tackle this severe threat.

Vulture Conservation Foundation
The Vulture Conservation Foundation (VCF) is an international NGO committed to the conservation of the European vulture species. The VCF has extensive experience in captive breeding, reintroduction and restocking of vultures, protection and conservation of vultures in their natural habitats, and tackling threats. It is involved in many large-scale vulture conservation projects across Europe, from Iberia to the Alps, the Balkans and beyond.

Association BIOM
Association BIOM (BIOM) is a voluntary, non-governmental organization dedicated to nature conservation, promotion and popularisation in Croatia. The organization strives to preserve and restore natural ecosystems, build and nurture a relationship between humans and nature and ensure harmonization of economic development and nature conservation.
Bird Protection and Study Society of Serbia
The Bird Protection and Study Society of Serbia (BPSSS) is an active and committed organization that carefully maintains a network of active members throughout Serbia who work on bird and habitat conservation and increase knowledge about birds in Serbia at local, regional and national levels.
Fund for Wild Flora and Fauna
The Fund for Wild Flora and Fauna (FWFF) is a registered charitable organization dedicated to conserving the Balkans' nature by meeting and respecting the needs of local communities. The organization has a sustainable approach to nature conservation. It seeks to find the best solution for all stakeholders, thus securing the region's special fauna and flora for generations to come.
Hellenic Ornithological Society
The Hellenic Ornithological Society (HOS) is a non-governmental organization protecting wild birds and their habitats in Greece to ensure a sustainable natural environment for birds and people. Its work includes a wide range of actions, from protection and research, through education, raising public awareness and policy making.
Macedonian Ecological Society
The Macedonian Ecological Society (MES) is a civil society organization actively working in the areas of ecology and environmental protection. MES achieves its goals and tasks through the implementation and participation in projects and by organizing professional and scientific gatherings.
Ornitološko društvo NAŠE Ptice
The Ornithological Society “Naše ptice” is a non-governmental, non-profit, non-partisan, volunteer organization in Bosnia and Herzegovina, involved in the field of ornithology, ecology, bird ringing and protection and monitoring of birds and their habitats. It is strongly involved in education programmes raising public awareness as well as research and conservation programmes that study and protect bird populations.
Protection and Preservation of Natural Environment in Albania
The Protection and Preservation of Natural Environment in Albania (PPNEA) is a non- governmental environmental organization in Albania. The organization is involved in rigorous scientific research, community engagement, strategic partnership establishment and continuous interaction with decision-making institutions to secure a societal and governing atmosphere where nature conservation is a priority.

Funders

The BalkanDetox LIFE project has received funding from the LIFE financial instrument of the European Union and is co-financed by several generous funders.

LIFE Programme
The LIFE Programme is the European Union's funding instrument for the environment and climate action created in 1992. LIFE has so far co-funded more than 4.500 projects with European added value that work in nature conservation, green technology and climate action.

MAVA Foundation
The MAVA Foundation is a family-led, Swiss-based philanthropic foundation, founded in 1994 by the late Dr Luc Hoffmann as a continuation of his deep personal commitment to conservation, now led by his son André Hoffmann. The MAVA Foundation has an exclusive focus on the conservation of biodiversity and is active through five programmes: Mediterranean Basin, West Africa, Switzerland, Sustainable Economy and Impact & Sustainability.
Euronatur
Euronatur is a charitable foundation committed to connecting nature and people in a peaceful Europe by implementing and funding many nature and species conservation projects. It further protects large-scale natural landscapes as well as ecologically valuable cultural landscapes throughout Europe.
Whitley Fund for Nature
The Whitley Fund for Nature is a fundraising and grant-giving nature conservation charity offering recognition, training and grants to support the work of proven grassroots conservation leaders across the Global South.
Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund
The Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund (EPEEF) was established in accordance with the provisions of the Environmental Protection Act to secure additional resources for the financing of projects, programmes and similar activities in the field of conservation, sustainable use, protection and improvement of the environment in Croatia.
